This term can be used in many different ways in the database world. When I was reviewing the FileMaker Server 9 Getting Started document, I decided to include deployment as one of my FileMaker terms. This is because the entirety of chapters 2 and 3 focus on the different deployment options of FileMaker Server. In this case, the term was used in the “bringing online” your FileMaker server and the number of machines you want to use. So deployment can be the act of doing all the things you need to do in order to make a server or a solution available to use.
