The default layout is a term given to the new layout that is automatically created when you add a new table to a FileMaker file. It will have all the fields that were created with the new table in the default font and fill option. In most cases, the first thing a developer does is delete this layout or turn it into a layout for development reasons. This is because the developer normally has designed a look and feel in the rest of the solution and they want to carry that forward with the new layouts for the new table.
