Save Records As PDF

Save Records As PDF

CATEGORY: Printing
CLASS: Advanced Design
VERSION: All Current Versions

Save Records As PDF (portable document format) is available as a menu command (from under the File menu) and as a script that and allows you to create a PDF document based upon a FileMaker record or found set of records.

Now you would think this would be a quick and easy feature and have a limited number of options. It can be quick and easy ... and ... it has a huge number of possible options.

Here you can see the Save Records As PDF dialog box with options to name the file, number of records saved, field appearance, automatically open the file after it is created and create an email with the new file as an included attachment. This is before you click the Options button, which can also be found here.

The options button takes you to a new dialog box that has three tabs, which consist of Document, Security and Initial View.

DOCUMENT TAB contains options that allow you to embed information into the document such as its title, subject, author, keywords, compatibility and page numbers.

SECURITY TAB contains password settings for opening the file and/or printing the file. You can even allow or restrict the copying of content and screen reading software.

INITIAL VIEW contains show, page layout and magnification options.
