Constant Relationship

Constant Relationship

CATEGORY: Relationships
CLASS: Operators

A more official name for a constant relationship is the Cartesian Product. Regardless of which term you use, it applies to a relationship between a parent and child file that is valid between every record on each side of the relationship. This can be useful when passing data between global fields from the two files or showing a list of possibilities in a portal.

The ability to step a Constant / Cartesian relationship is accomplished by using the X operator. This operator is used to see all the records in a table occurrence outside of the table occurrence the layout is using.
